Warehouse parties were all the rage in the Acid House Summer of Love and the Turin Shroud was declared a fake. Wobbly soap Crossroads ended and Green Politics began. Salman Rushdie published his Satanic Verses to much controversy and Ninja Turtles were living in the sewers. Tom Cruise starred in two of the year's film hits while singer Phil Collins played the part of one of the Great Train Robbers in Buster.
